Description

Nikki blames her brother, Derek, for their parents' death in a house fire.

But when Derek gets involved with a gang, Nikki knows she is the only one who can save him. Enlisting the help of a girl named Rain, who uses her athletic abilities to carry out acts of petty thievery, Nikki uses all her gymnastic and free-running skills to stay ahead of the gang and keep her brother from being killed.

This short novel is a high-interest, low-reading level book for middle-grade readers who are building reading skills, want a quick read or say they don’t like to read!

About the Author

Anita Daher holds memberships in The Writers' Union of Canada, The Canadian Children's Book Center, The Manitoba Writers' Guild, The Saskatchewan Writers Guild, and was a founding member of the Territorial Writers Association. When she's not writing, she likes to spend time baking, playing her guitar (badly), and turning her backyard garden into a haven for neighbourhood bunnies. Anita currently resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with her husband, two daughters, a basset hound, and a Westfalia camper van named Mae.

Contributor Notes

Anita Daher began her life in a small town on Prince Edward Island but left at the age of five, remaining something of a gypsy ever since. Her writing reflects the places she’s been blessed to spend time. Her most recent Orca book is Racing for Diamonds. Anita lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with her husband, two daughters, one basset hound and a Westfalia camper van named Mae.
