BC Books Online was created for anyone interested in BC-published books, and with librarians especially in mind. We'd like to make it easy for library staff to learn about books from BC publishers - both new releases and backlist titles - so you can inform your patrons and keep your collections up to date.
Our site features print books and ebooks - both new releases and backlist titles - all of which are available to order through regular trade channels. Browse our subject categories to find books of interest or create and export lists by category to cross-reference with your library's current collection.
A quick tip: When reviewing the "Browse by Category" listings, please note that these are based on standardized BISAC Subject Codes supplied by the books' publishers. You will find additional selections, grouped by theme or region, in our "BC Reading Lists."
One yellow ribbon unties itself from a child's hair and transforms into a winter scarf, a farmer's field and a lion's mane, among many other magical things, in this delightful board book by celebrated paper artist Marthe Jocelyn.
Jocelyn's paper collages in this wordless search-and-find adventure will encourage little ones to look closely at the world around them and explore what they see.
"This wordless board book from the creator of One Patch of Blue is a visual treat…A lovely board book that is a bit out of the box."
"This is a cute idea executed in a clean and playful fashion."
"A cleverly illustrated wordless outing that is a natural progression for readers of Jocelyn's previous board books."
"Beautifully illustrated in mixed media (and one yellow ribbon) this will encourage the reader to look carefully at the pictures and find the matching piece."
“The pictures are each singularly creative, and with the tie that binds, a yellow ribbon, unique. As a board book, this book will have many lives, and as a book without text, it will have many stories.”
"Jocelyn's collages continue to be alive with colour and textures, and they invite their young viewers to not just locate the repurposed ribbon or patch but to explore the pages' details…Art teachers in schools might want to acquire One Yellow Ribbon and One Patch of Blue to use as exemplars for divergent artistic thinking."
"Children will enjoy discovering where the yellow ribbon is hidden on each page. Once again, Marthe Jocelyn uses fabric and paper to meticulously create the collage illustrations. Her attention to detail is precise…All of the pages are a rich resource for developing vocabulary."
