BC Books Online was created for anyone interested in BC-published books, and with librarians especially in mind. We'd like to make it easy for library staff to learn about books from BC publishers - both new releases and backlist titles - so you can inform your patrons and keep your collections up to date.
Our site features print books and ebooks - both new releases and backlist titles - all of which are available to order through regular trade channels. Browse our subject categories to find books of interest or create and export lists by category to cross-reference with your library's current collection.
A quick tip: When reviewing the "Browse by Category" listings, please note that these are based on standardized BISAC Subject Codes supplied by the books' publishers. You will find additional selections, grouped by theme or region, in our "BC Reading Lists."
Every year, a team of ex-NHLers, including such greats as Bobby Hull, Tiger Williams, and Frank Mahovlich, travels around Canada playing hockey and raising money for charity. Known as the NHL Oldtimers or Legendary Heroes of Hockey, they get the kind of attention that Mario Lemieux and Paul Kariya get today, playing to sellout crowds in Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg.
In "Oldtimers", award-winning sports columnist Gary Mason takes us on a rollicking tour with some of hockey’s greatest, putting us front and center in arenas throughout Canada and Alaska. He also takes us behind the scenes to the buses and planes and dressing rooms, where he listens in as the players share their most hilarious stories and watches as they pull their most outrageous pranks.
All in all, Mason delivers a revealing and often uproarious look at the National Hockey League, as seen by some of the biggest stars to have ever played the game.
