Quelque part au large, mais pas trop loin, se trouvent deux îles. Une est en grande partie faite de pierres tandis que l’autre est couverte de sable. C’est là que les problèmes commencent.

La petite Nye ne comprend pas pourquoi les habitants de son île de Sable s’acharnent à construire jour après jour de beaux châteaux de sable qui sont détruits tous les soirs par les habitants de l’île de Roche qui y catapultent des pierres. Quand elle demande pourquoi, on lui répond toujours : « C’est comme ça, c’est tout. »

Au fil des ans, Nye se rend compte qu’elle a fini par accepter cette situation sans broncher et cela la fâche. Elle décide donc d’agir. Dans cette histoire sur l’injustice et la remise en question du statu quo, les lecteurs seront portés à réfléchir sur ce qu’ils peuvent faire pour changer le monde, et pour quelles raisons. About the Authors

Bree Galbraith

BREE GALBRAITH is a UBC Master of Creative Writing graduate and author of award winning titles, Once Upon a Balloon (Orca 2013), and Milo and Georgie (2017). Usha and the Stolen Sun is Bree’s third book, and several more follow in the coming years, including the Wednesday Wilson series (Kids Can Press 2020-22). She lives in the heart of Vancouver with her family, where when she’s not writing, she’s definitely outside enjoying the wonders of the west coast.

Marion Arbona

After obtaining a diploma in animation film at Les arts Décoratifs de Paris, Marion Arbona started working as an illustrator for children's books. She has published more than thirty children's books, and her work has been rewarded in several international competitions. Marion was awarded several illustration prizes in the USA and in Canada, where she lived for ten years. She returned to live in Paris in 2015.


Rachel Martinez

Over the past twenty years, Rachel Martinez has published more than eighty translations in various genres for renowned French-speaking publishers, including novels, biographies, essays and children's literature. She was part of the advisory board of the Banff International Literary Translation Center from 2017 until its dissolution in 2019, and served for several years on the board of directors of the Literary Translators Association of Canada. A mention on the 2014 Honor List of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) and the 2017 Quebec Booksellers Prize (in the 12-17 years old, outside Quebec category) are among the marks of recognition she has received. In 2005, Rachel won the Canadian Governor General's Award in French translation for Glenn Gould, une vie by Kevin Bazzana and was also a finalist in 2013 and 2015.
