About the Author

Jack Bennett

Jack Bennett is a member of the American Alpine Club and the Highpointers Club. He began climbing the 50 US highpoints in 1973, completing them with an ascent of Mount McKinley in 1990. For him mountains are much more than a challenge. They are mystical places of profound beauty where all the elements of a major climb—beauty, challenge, hardship, isolation, even suffering—combine to create a spiritual experience.
