BC Books Online was created for anyone interested in BC-published books, and with librarians especially in mind. We'd like to make it easy for library staff to learn about books from BC publishers - both new releases and backlist titles - so you can inform your patrons and keep your collections up to date.
Our site features print books and ebooks - both new releases and backlist titles - all of which are available to order through regular trade channels. Browse our subject categories to find books of interest or create and export lists by category to cross-reference with your library's current collection.
A quick tip: When reviewing the "Browse by Category" listings, please note that these are based on standardized BISAC Subject Codes supplied by the books' publishers. You will find additional selections, grouped by theme or region, in our "BC Reading Lists."
Bal Sethi pens his reflections on all that is happening around him with wisdom and a (sometimes) heavy heart. An example is the poem "Home for the Holidays" where the narrator discovers that his wife has been unfaithful. Yet Bal never seems to lose hope for the world. This is a truly beautiful compilation of poetry concerning all that matters most to mankind.
Bal Sethi was born, raised and educated in India. He lived most of his life in the hills of the Himalayan mountain range. Love of nature came ingrained in him starting in his childhood. After finishing post-secondary school in India and receiving his MA in English, Bal became the vice-principal (and later on acting principal) as well as head of the English department in a high school in India. In 1972, Bal came to Canada to take a one-year study leave and fell in love with all that Canada has to offer. He began teaching English as a Second Language and Literature classes at the College of New Caledonia. He then worked as a real estate agent. He is now retired and focuses his time on his family and writing.
