BC Books Online was created for anyone interested in BC-published books, and with librarians especially in mind. We'd like to make it easy for library staff to learn about books from BC publishers - both new releases and backlist titles - so you can inform your patrons and keep your collections up to date.
Our site features print books and ebooks - both new releases and backlist titles - all of which are available to order through regular trade channels. Browse our subject categories to find books of interest or create and export lists by category to cross-reference with your library's current collection.
A quick tip: When reviewing the "Browse by Category" listings, please note that these are based on standardized BISAC Subject Codes supplied by the books' publishers. You will find additional selections, grouped by theme or region, in our "BC Reading Lists."
On the heels of the "hell bent for fun road trip" of the anthology Desperately Seeking Susans, here comes Catherines, the Great, a collection that gathers the poetry of both established and emerging Canadian Catherines, Kateris, Cathys, Kates, Katias, and Caths. Their works cast an eye on gender identity; on the burdens and joys of namesakes; on love, sex, death, violence, and power; on rain and rivers and airplanes. Together, theirs is a searing look at the world that women experience, where even the most mundane of subjects hides sharp edges that leave the reader caught and bleeding.
Susie Berg is the author of two full-length poetry collections (How to Get Over Yourself, 2013, and All This Blood, 2017, both from Piquant Press), as well as two chapbooks and the Lyrical Myrical title You Will Still Have Birds, a conversation in poetry with Elana Wolff. Her work has appeared in journals and anthologies, including Understorey, carte blanche, Ars Medica, The Mom Egg Review, and Desperately Seeking Susans. A graduate of summer writer programs at Humber College and at St. FX, her appearances include IFOA's 2017 Battle of the Bards, Authors for Indies, ArtBar, Hot-Sauced Words, HOWL on CIUT, and Plasticine Poetry, where she was the co-curator of the series in its final two years. She lives in Toronto.
