BC Books Online was created for anyone interested in BC-published books, and with librarians especially in mind. We'd like to make it easy for library staff to learn about books from BC publishers - both new releases and backlist titles - so you can inform your patrons and keep your collections up to date.
Our site features print books and ebooks - both new releases and backlist titles - all of which are available to order through regular trade channels. Description
The border between Canada and the United States not only seperates us geographically and politically, but also is an important symbol for defining Canadian nationality. In Borderlands, New poetically and metaphorically considers the image of 'the border' in Canada and how it affects the way Canadians look at themselves and their society.
Contributor Notes
W.H. (Bill) New is University Killam Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia where he was in the English department from 1965 to 2003. He was also the editor of the well-known journal Canadian Literature for eighteen years. He has published several critical works and books of poetry, four books for children, and has been a co-editor on numerous collections and anthologies. Among many honours, he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2006 and presented with the Governor General's Award for Canadian Studies in 2004.
