A collection of historic photos of the North Shore, and surrounding area. For Fine Photographs, go to G.G.Nye, The Pioneer Photographer. so recommended an advertisement of 1908 enduring the few years the George Nye was in business, North Vancouverites did just that. The fine photographs which have survived from Nye's commercial enterprise document the growth of a BC town propelled by the sell of nationwide expansion at the turn of the century. This publications intent is to pay tribute to the Pioneer Photographer:, who photographed North Vancouver with skill and enthusiasm for a short formative period in its history. This book is also intended to stimulate interest in today's visible links with North Vancouver's roots. These include what remains of the urban landscapes created during the community's infancy and the natural beauties which attracted residents to the area. The author also hope to awaken concerns or the vanishing buildings and landscapes that Nye and his contemporaries enjoyed and admired. In 1970 after resting for years in an attic, the photographs of G.G. Nye were donated to the new North Shore Museum and Archives to form the nucleus of is photographic holdings. It is from this collection that the author has assemble this book.
