Articles of Faith

The Battle of St. Alban's

by Mark Leiren-Young

tagged: religious & liturgical, gay
Description

Articles of Faith is a play designed to promote understanding of the controversial subject of the blessing of same-sex unions. The play is based on a series of interviews conducted by the author in a Pacific Northwest community where the issue of formal condoning and blessing of same-sex unions divided and eventually split an Anglican parish.

Praise for Articles of Faith:

"a work that succinctly and earnestly voices a representative range of opinion . . . Articles of Faith undoubtedly succeeded in provoking discussion on an issue we will all likely be talking about for some time to come." (Canadian Literature)

"Articles tackles an issue that had bedevilled Christian denominations for years." (Maclean's Magazine)

"This play is not a petition to change your stance on this issue. No one side is obviously jumping down your throat and proselytizing. Articles of Faith is more a springboard into the minds of real people trying to diffuse a spiritual time bomb." (The Globe and Mail)
