BC Books Online was created for anyone interested in BC-published books, and with librarians especially in mind. We'd like to make it easy for library staff to learn about books from BC publishers - both new releases and backlist titles - so you can inform your patrons and keep your collections up to date.
Our site features print books and ebooks - both new releases and backlist titles - all of which are available to order through regular trade channels. Browse our subject categories to find books of interest or create and export lists by category to cross-reference with your library's current collection.
A quick tip: When reviewing the "Browse by Category" listings, please note that these are based on standardized BISAC Subject Codes supplied by the books' publishers. You will find additional selections, grouped by theme or region, in our "BC Reading Lists."
Kids will love The A to Z of Absolute Zaniness. While their parents read the six-line alliterative captions, children will be dazzled by the bold, colourful drawings illustrating each letter with objects, animals, and people.
Carol Mills wrote the short stories that describe the bizarre feats of people and animals, real and ridiculous. Susanne Ferrier provided bright and detailed pictures, giving an individual personality to each creature. Each page explodes with colour. The large size of the book makes it ideal for even the youngest children as the objects in each picture are big, easy to see and recognize.
The author does not sacrifice educational value for visual pleasure, however. Mills makes sure that each letter is firmly implanted in the minds of young children through repitition. The entire book, from cover to cover, is enlivened by a sense of learning with fun, with tongue-in-cheek humour, and with absolute zaniness.
