Description

You need not move to live gracefully and safely as you age. A respected author taps into expertise on how your home can be modestly renovated to ease the physical challenges and provide a great quality of life in a familiar surrounding.

About the Authors
Yvonne Poulin is an Elder Planning Counselor (EPC) and a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). She is certified to provide general advice to seniors (and their family caregivers) regarding their physical, emotional, mental, social, and financial issues. This program provided a “total needs approach” that included the evolving requirement of home adaptations to allow seniors to remain safely “In Place”. And in 25 years of clinical experience as a RMT she has assessed, treated, and given home exercises and ergonomics instructions to hundreds of seniors.

Gordon Morrison is an architectural technologist, educator, and published freelance writer.
Editorial Review

You need not move to live gracefully and safely as you age. In "Aging Safely In Your Home", Yvonne Poulin and Gordon Morrison collaborate to provide the non-specialist general reader who is a senior citizen (or who is responsible for the well being of an elderly man or woman) with an expertise as to how a home can be modestly renovated to ease the physical challenges and provide a great quality of life in a familiar surrounding. A part of the outstanding 'Eldercare Series' from Self-Counsel Press, "Aging Safely In Your Home" is comprised of chapters on: Physically Prepared to Age Safely in Your Home; Maintain an Active Social Network; Be Emotionally Happy in Your Home; Keep Mentally Active; Rate Your Home; Make Your Home Comfortable; Adapt Your Home; Renovate Your Home; and perhaps most importantly -- Prevent Falls. Simply stated, "Aging Safely In Your Home" should be a part of every community library and Senior Citizen Center instructional reference collection in the country. It should be noted that "Aging Safely In Your Home" is also available in a Kindle edition ($8.99) and a Download Kit that includes Checklists, Diagrams, and Worksheets are also available.
